Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has changed his tune after a video of him promising not to vie in 2027 circulated on social media.
The video which showed Eric Wamumbi revealing that he will not vie for Mathira MP seat in 2027 circulated on social media and elicited mixed reactions, with a section of critics claiming that the MP had started sensing defeat several months to the election.
However Eric Wamumbi has changed his tune and clarified what he meant. According to the MP the video is not a recent one and was taken last year.
He claimed that he meant he doesn’t want Mathira seat but to work for Mathira. He sarcastically told those who want the seat to go for it and leave him to work for Mathira for 15 years.
Further MP Wamumbi urged his competitors to brace themselves, hinting that he will be on the ballot in 2027.
“Mimi sitaki kiti ya Mathira, nataka kazi ya mathira. Wale wanataka kiti wapewe, mimi waniachie kazi miaka kumi na tano. That is what I meant in a last year’s video I have seen circulating. Competitors wajipange vizuri, ni mapema sana.” Reads Eric Wamumbi’s reaction
