Police in Nairobi are investigating an incident in which a suspected robber was lynched by angry residents in the Ruai area following a failed robbery attempt.

According to initial reports, the victim and three accomplices were attacking and robbing members of the public when they were noticed, and an alarm was raised.

While three attackers escaped, one was caught by residents who fatally beat him before authorities arrived.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after and confirmed that the victim worked as a matatu tout within the area.

The body was transferred to the mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted as part of ongoing investigations.

Authorities urged residents to refrain from lynching suspects and instead report such incidents to the police.

Residents of Ruai expressed their deep frustration over repeated attacks by criminal gangs targeting their valuables, particularly mobile phones and money, during the early morning and late evening hours.
