A grieving father in Kilimanjaro Region is struggling to come to terms with the death of his only son, who was fatally stabbed just days after launching a motorcycle taxi business.
Amini Kamaga, 21, of Ormelili Ward in Siha District, had turned down the chance to inherit his father’s shop, choosing instead to build his own income through a boda boda he acquired on hire-purchase.
Unknown assailants attacked him on September 3, 2026, stabbing him multiple times and making off with the motorcycle.
His father told GADI TV that Amini had only been working the trade for about four days before the attack occurred on the fifth.
Speaking about their last conversation before Amini began the job, the father said he had cautioned his son that the business could expose him to criminals targeting motorcycle owners.
He said Amini promised to stay careful, prompting him to reluctantly give his blessing despite his reservations.
The father added that he had wanted his only son to eventually take over the family shop, but respected Amini’s determination to forge his own path.
He said the loss has been especially painful given that Amini was his sole child and had insisted on proving himself independently.
The grieving family has appealed to the Kilimanjaro Regional Police Command to pursue the case vigorously, identify the attackers and bring them to justice.
