A murder investigation has taken a bizarre turn after authorities revealed that a man suspected of killing his girlfriend died of a heart attack while allegedly attempting to dispose of her body in a wooded area.

Jessica Folds, 47, a mother of three and grandmother, was found dead alongside 44-year-old Daniel Robbins on June 10 in a remote wooded area near her hometown.

An autopsy confirmed Folds had been killed, while Robbins was found to have died of natural causes linked to a heart attack.

Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson said Folds’ body was discovered with her hands raised above her head, just a few miles from her home, while Robbins was found nearby curled in a foetal position.

Investigators noted a clear drag path leading to the site where the two bodies were found.

District Attorney Mike Segrest said evidence at the scene suggested Robbins was in the process of moving or concealing Folds’ body when he collapsed and died.

Authorities believe the alleged killing occurred the night before, during what is suspected to have been a domestic violence incident.

The bodies were discovered after a passer-by spotted an abandoned vehicle with its engine still running and doors open beside a dirt road, prompting them to alert police.

Investigators followed drag marks from the vehicle into the woods, where they found the two bodies. Sheriff Nelson said the witness initially mistook the figures for mannequins.

Folds is remembered by loved ones as a warm and caring woman who leaves behind three adult sons and two grandchildren.

Her death comes just over a year after she lost her husband of five years in February 2025.

Police have not released a motive for the alleged killing, and investigations into the full sequence of events remain ongoing.
