An emotional yet controversial reunion unfolded in Kakamega County after an 84-year-old man, Peter Oyuka, returned home following a 47-year disappearance, only to discover that the two wives he left behind had long moved on with their lives.

Oyuka reportedly left his village in 1974 at the age of 37 in search of greener pastures but failed to communicate clearly about his plans or expected return. His sudden departure left his family in uncertainty, forcing his wives to wait for years without any assurance of his whereabouts.

As time passed and hope faded, the two women eventually made the difficult decision to rebuild their lives. They remarried and established new families, adapting to life without Oyuka.

Upon his return decades later, Oyuka expressed disappointment that his wives had chosen to remarry. However, he also acknowledged that his prolonged absence contributed significantly to the situation. Ironically, while away, Oyuka had settled in Tanzania for several years, where he entered into another relationship and fathered a child.

His journey back home was made possible through the intervention of a Good Samaritan who shared his story on Facebook, helping trace his roots and reconnect him with his extended family.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions among locals, with many questioning the fairness of Oyuka’s expectations after nearly half a century away, while others sympathize with his emotional return and longing for the past.
