The General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EASTCOM), Major General Luka Kutto, visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel deployed in Elwak and Moyale over the weekend.During the visit, the Major General held interactive barazas with the troops, providing an opportunity to engage directly and address their concerns.
In his address, Major General Kutto conveyed warm greetings from the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, and the Commander of the Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Ketter.
He commended the personnel for their unwavering commitment, professionalism, and exemplary discipline throughout their deployment.
The GOC highlighted the significant progress made in pacifying the area of responsibility, noting that KDF leadership was satisfied with the operations.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards and encouraged troops to continue upholding the values of the Defence Forces.
Major General Kutto also addressed soldiers approaching retirement, advising them to channel their salaries through the Defence Forces Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (DESSACO) to ensure a smooth transition from salary to pension.
He further expressed satisfaction with the administration and welfare of the personnel, urging them to spend quality time with their families whenever possible.The Major General underscored that family support plays a critical role in sustaining operational effectiveness and overall morale.
Concluding his visit, Major General Kutto extended festive greetings to all troops, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
He expressed confidence that the soldiers would continue to serve with dedication and uphold the values of Kenya Defence Forces in the year ahead.
