Fast-rising Kenyan boxer Portifas Odipo, popularly known as Majembe, has accepted a rematch challenge from longtime rival Ferdinand Omondi, better known as Mbavu Destroyer, reigniting one of the country’s most talked-about boxing rivalries.
The renewed feud gained momentum after Majembe shared a bold message on social media, confirming that he was ready to step back into the ring and face his rival once again.
“Mbavuuu, mbavuuu, mbavuuu, nimekuita mara ngapi? You messed with the wrong person, and you are going to pay back. Tupatane date 15 Dubai Complex Nyamasaria; it’s going to be messy,” Majembe declared.
His response came shortly after Mbavu Destroyer publicly demanded a rematch, arguing that their previous contest did not accurately reflect his abilities.
“Haukushinda game in a free and fair fight. Nimerudi ground, tupatane Kisumu na itakuwa mbaya,” Mbavu said.
Although organizers have yet to officially announce the bout, both fighters have repeatedly hinted that they could square off on the 15th at Dubai Complex in Nyamasaria, Kisumu. Their online exchanges have already generated significant excitement, with fans eagerly anticipating another entertaining encounter.
The proposed rematch carries high stakes for both fighters. Majembe will be seeking to prove that his earlier victory was no accident, while Mbavu Destroyer hopes to redeem himself by settling the score inside the ring.
Their rivalry dates back to April 4, 2026, during the inaugural Vurugu Boxing Challenge held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena in Nairobi. The event attracted thousands of fans both at the venue and online, thanks to the intense build-up and heated exchanges between the two entertainers.
On that night, Majembe was declared the winner by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the contest in his favour after he outperformed Mbavu Destroyer over the course of the fight.
The contest had originally been scheduled for ten rounds but ended after just four when Mbavu Destroyer was unable to continue following an incident that appeared to involve a low blow. Match officials subsequently stopped the bout.
Vurugu Boxing Challenge organizer Oga Obinna, alongside boxing official Reuben Ndolo, presented Majembe with the winner’s belt after the official decision.
From the opening bell, Majembe applied relentless pressure, forcing Mbavu Destroyer onto the defensive and controlling much of the action before the fight came to an early conclusion.
With both fighters now exchanging fresh verbal jabs on social media, supporters are eagerly waiting for an official confirmation of the rematch. If the showdown goes ahead, it promises another thrilling chapter in one of Kenya’s fastest-growing celebrity boxing rivalries.
