Legendary radio personality Maina Kageni has disclosed that he is ready to hang the microphone and headphones as he looks forward to early retirement.
The Classic 105 presenter revealed that he tired of being on air and does not need the job.
Speaking recently during his morning show, Maina and King’ang’i on Classic 105, he noted that it is time young people took his position as he has been on radio for over two decades.
The journo called on Gen Zs to apply for his position at the station because, rightfully he should not be there, so is his co-host Churchill.
According to Maina, it is about time he left the radio space because he has been on air for half his life.

“By the way me am leaving this job, I am done. I want young people to come here. We need to hand over this country to young people. If you want my job, please call in. I really want to hear from you. Because we have done this for too long. We should not be here. We have been here for long. I have been here for half my life. I should not be here.” Maina said.
He reiterated that he is very ready to leave his job and never come back.
The radio host insisted that he would be very happy outside the media space.
“I am ready, I can leave today and never comeback and I would be very happy.” Maina added.
He also used the opportunity to slam Rigathi Gachagua and William Ruto, whom he urged to go home and leave leadership to the young generation.
“Rigathi Gachagua go home, William Ruto go home, everyone go home. Let us start on a clean slate. That is how we are going to change this country.” Maina declared.
His announcement, however, sparked mixed reaction online with quite a number of netizens holding that Classic 105 will never be the same without him.
Here are comments from some of his fans;
“Hebu you stay there…vile you make our mornings,” Margaret Wachoro wrote.
“Maina and Mwalimu without you guys at Classic it can never be the same again. Please stay as long as possible.” Thomas Mutua opined.
“But how will Classic be if Maina and Mwalimu aren’t there anymore. You guys make my mornings,” said Abdhullah Bunayyan.
