“Aki mambo ya ndoa, thank God I am child-free and marriage-free,” Lydia said in a social media post on Friday, August 7, 2026.
She questioned the balance of responsibilities in some marriages, asking what role a husband would play if she was expected to handle most household tasks.
“Yaani mimi nimpikie, nimlishe, nilishe watoto wake. Ni make sure kila mtu amelala, kila mtu amekula, what is he going to do?” she posed.
Lydia explained that her decision is not based on dislike for children but on her personal views about the commitment and responsibilities involved in parenthood. She said people who choose not to have children are often misunderstood and wrongly judged.
In an earlier Instagram post shared in February 2026, Lydia addressed what she described as one of the biggest misconceptions about child-free individuals — the belief that they do not love children.
“I think the worst perception about child-free people is that we don’t like or love kids,” she said.
