Lulu Hasan

Citizen TV anchor Lulu Hassan has responded to a fan who warned her against joining politics, saying she was ready to face the consequences of her decision.

Her response came after a photo of her wearing a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) cap circulated online, sparking criticism and debate about her political ambitions.

Hassan is reportedly eyeing the Mvita parliamentary seat in Mombasa County. Her appearance in the UDA cap has fuelled speculation, about her possible association with President William Ruto’s party, although her political plans have not been formally confirmed.

The photo attracted mixed reactions from social media users, with some questioning whether the veteran broadcaster should leave her media career for politics. Others were curious about whether she would officially announce her interest in the Mvita seat.

One fan cautioned Hassan against venturing into politics, warning that she would regret the decision. “Wachana na politics uta regret,” the fan commented under one of her videos, meaning she should stay away from politics because she might regret it.

Hassan responded with a short message that quickly caught the attention of social media users. “Acha ni regret,” she replied, meaning she was willing to take the risk and deal with any regrets later.

Her response came across as firm and unapologetic, suggesting that the fan’s warning would not determine her choices. She did not engage in a lengthy exchange, instead keeping her reply brief.

The exchange has added to growing online discussion about Hassan’s reported interest in elective politics. Her possible move from television journalism to public office has prompted debate about the challenges media personalities may face when entering the political arena.

Some Kenyans have questioned whether her popularity as a broadcaster would translate into electoral support, while others are waiting for a clear announcement about her plans.

For now, Hassan’s brief response has kept the conversation alive as speculation continues over whether she will make a formal bid for the Mvita parliamentary seat.
