Love Trial

New details have emerged about the words spoken by the husband of an Eldoret nurse who was allegedly shot dead by another man in an incident believed to have been linked to a love triangle.

Although reports indicated that his wife had been involved in an extramarital relationship, the grieving husband chose to forgive her and spoke about her with compassion during her burial ceremony.

Doris Murei Kamama, a 45-year-old nurse from Eldoret, was laid to rest at her family home in Chemolingot, Tiaty, Baringo County. Her final journey was attended by family members, friends, colleagues from the nursing profession and other mourners who came to honour her memory.

During the requiem Mass, one of the most moving moments occurred when Murei’s husband addressed those gathered. Amid the pain caused by her death and allegations surrounding her relationship with another man, he revealed that he had decided to forgive his late wife.

The husband also remembered Murei as a loving and loyal woman, offering a touching tribute despite the circumstances surrounding her death. His remarks deeply affected mourners and added an emotional dimension to the farewell ceremony.

Murei was reportedly shot on Saturday, August 30, 2026, at approximately 5pm at the GSU Camp Eldoret mess compound. According to police reports, a confrontation allegedly occurred between Murei and Police Constable Nathan Kirwa before the officer reportedly fired a rifle, killing her at the scene.

Following the incident, investigators recovered seven spent 9mm cartridges, a Toyota Corolla 110 and a rifle holster believed to be associated with the suspect.

Kirwa, who was reportedly part of the security team assigned to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, is said to have left the scene with other individuals shortly after the shooting.

The police officer later appeared before Chief Magistrate Peter Ndwiga on Tuesday, September 1, as prosecutors requested additional time to complete investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.

Murei’s remains were initially taken to Eldoret Hospital Mortuary before being released to her family for burial.

Authorities are continuing with investigations to establish the events that preceded the shooting and determine the circumstances that led to the nurse’s death.
