Nairobi County Citizen Engagement Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has stirred conversation among young Kenyans after urging them to embrace marriage and family life, boldly declaring that “loneliness is not a spiritual gift.” Speaking during a community engagement forum in the capital, Mosiria encouraged the youth to overcome fear, take responsibility and commit to meaningful relationships that build stable families.

Mosiria noted a growing trend where many young people are delaying or avoiding marriage due to economic pressures, social expectations and personal anxieties. While acknowledging these challenges, he stressed that companionship and family remain central pillars of society. According to him, the belief that one should remain alone indefinitely is misguided and often leads to emotional strain, isolation and lack of support systems.

He assured young people that marriage, when approached with maturity and intention, comes with blessings—both spiritual and practical. “Commitment brings structure, purpose and growth,” he said, emphasizing that building a home fosters discipline and anchors individuals in values that strengthen communities.

Mosiria also urged religious and community leaders to guide the youth with empathy rather than judgment, arguing that young people need encouragement, mentorship and realistic counsel. He added that society should create environments where relationships can thrive, including supporting employment, financial stability and mental well-being.

His remarks sparked lively reactions, with some residents praising his candidness and others saying marriage should remain a personal choice. A number of young attendees, however, admitted that they appreciated the reminder that companionship is important, especially in an era where social media often promotes isolation or unrealistic expectations of relationships.

Mosiria concluded by urging the youth to be courageous, intentional and prayerful as they navigate the journey to partnership. His message, though humorous, carried a deeper call for stronger families and more grounded communities.
