Just hours after the country was plunged into mourning following the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in India, a swift arrangements have been put in place for the repatriation of his remains.

India has agreed to facilitate the process, as announced by President Ruto.

A high-level Kenyan delegation, led by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, is set to leave for India immediately to receive the body of the revered statesman.

The list of distinguished officials and family members accompanying the Prime CS has been confirmed.

The delegation has his wife, Ida Odinga, as well as several influential political figures.

These include CS Interior Kipchumba Murkomen and CS Hassan Joho.

Also joining the flight are Members of Parliament, including MP Ichung’wa and MP Junet Mohamed.

Several members of the Odinga family and the extended Raila family have also been confirmed as part of the team.

In a poignant address, President Ruto has asserted that the nation will accord the former Prime Minister a State Funeral.

This prestigious honour will include military honours and the full attendant State protocols, which have been rendered and observed for leaders of his stature.

The immediate travel of the delegation has underscored the urgency and gravity of the loss that Kenya has sustained.

The country has united in grief, preparing for the solemn process of bringing their political titan home for his final send-off.
