According to a social media post by Jace Mueni, the wife of veteran Kenyan journalist Linus Kaikai, their daughter Resiato has turned 19, prompting her mother to celebrate the milestone with a collection of rare family throwback photographs.
In her heartfelt birthday message, Jace reflected on the journey of watching her daughter grow from childhood into young adulthood. She described the 19 years as a period filled with “love, fun and adventure” while expressing gratitude to God for the gift of Resiato’s life and the person she has become.
Jace also revealed that Resiato was marking her 19th birthday away from home because she is currently attending university. Although the milestone was being celebrated from a distance, her family made it clear that she remained in their thoughts.
“Happy Birthday Resiato!” Jace wrote, while also expressing how much the family missed their daughter as she celebrated the special occasion away from home.
The photographs shared alongside the message provided followers with a rare glimpse into the family’s private life. The images showed Jace and Linus with Resiato at different stages of her childhood, documenting memories from her early years and the family’s journey together.
Kaikai and Jace have generally maintained a relatively private family life, choosing to keep their children away from much of the public attention surrounding the journalist’s career. However, they occasionally share special occasions and family moments with their followers.
The couple married in December 2012 after being together for several years. Their wedding was held at Nkoroi Catholic Church in Ongata Rongai, according to biographical reports.
Together, they have three children: two sons, Lenkai and Leon, and their daughter, Resiato. The family has also embraced and celebrated elements of their Maasai and Kamba heritage.
Recently, Jace shared a glimpse of another family occasion involving Linus and their son, showing the journalist helping him dress following a cultural rite of passage into adulthood.
Linus Kaikai is an experienced Kenyan journalist whose career spans more than two decades. Over the years, he has worked with prominent international media organisations, including the BBC and CNN.
He currently serves in a senior editorial role at Royal Media Services. In 2025, he was also among those admitted to the Kenyan Bar, adding a legal qualification to his extensive professional background.
