Political temperatures continue to rise as former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi launches a sharp attack against former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, questioning his political approach and urging him to return to Kisii to seek votes.
In his remarks, Linturi did not hold back as he dismissed Matiang’i as a cry baby suggesting that the former Interior CS struggles to handle political criticism whenever his name is mentioned in public discussions.
“Matiang’i is a CRY BABY, akiambiwa maneno hasikii, arudi Kisii atafute KURA,” Linturi remarked.
The statement has added another interesting dimension to the growing political exchanges surrounding leaders positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Linturi appeared to suggest that Matiang’i should concentrate on building his political support in his home region instead of reacting to comments made by other political figures.
His remarks also raised questions about how the former Interior CS intends to approach the increasingly competitive political environment.
Matiang’i, who previously served in powerful Cabinet positions under former President Uhuru Kenyatta has increasingly become a subject of political discussion as conversations about the next presidential contest continue to gather momentum.
His possible political ambitions have attracted attention, particularly as opposition leaders and other political players continue to position themselves ahead of 2027.
Linturi’s latest remarks could further fuel the ongoing exchanges among politicians especially at a time when different camps are attempting to establish their influence and strengthen their political bases.
Although it remains unclear whether Matiang’i will respond to the latest criticism Linturi’s comments have placed him at the centre of another political conversation.
With the 2027 elections approaching, such exchanges could become more frequent as politicians seek to defend their positions challenge their rivals and attract the attention of voters.
