A fresh warning has landed in Edwin Sifuna’s political camp, raising questions about who he can trust ahead of 2027.

KANU Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Tony Gachoka has advised the Nairobi Senator to keep his distance from United Opposition leaders, arguing they may not fully support his presidential ambitions.

In a message shared on Saturday, November 7, Gachoka said Sifuna should pursue his presidential bid without depending on the group. He was responding to a video in which Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka appeared to mock the Linda Mwananchi Movement over its reception during a Homa Bay tour.

Gachoka did not name the individuals he was warning Sifuna about. However, his remarks appeared directed at leaders who accompanied Kalonzo during his South Nyanza tour.

He argued that some could be working against Sifuna’s interests despite publicly standing within the opposition camp. Gachoka urged supporters to keep pushing the Sifuna presidency until it becomes unstoppable.

The comments have added to the debate over the opposition’s 2027 strategy. Sifuna has featured in conversations about a possible presidential ticket through Linda Mwananchi, but the question of who should lead the wider opposition remains unsettled.

Tension was visible during the launch of Linda Mwananchi’s headquarters in Nairobi, where some supporters heckled Kalonzo and chanted in support of Sifuna. Kalonzo later cautioned against declaring a candidate before the movement’s delegates considered the matter.

Many people were left talking about whether the opposition can remain united while its leaders pursue competing ambitions. The incident sparked reactions online, with supporters appearing divided over whether Sifuna should build his own political path or work closely with established opposition figures.
