Anne Njeri, a key figure in the Sh17 billion oil importation saga, has emerged after being missing for five days. Njeri’s lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, revealed a distressing account of her alleged abduction by police officers. Blindfolded and transported to a house in Karura forest, Njeri reportedly faced ominous threats, including warnings of dire consequences if she did not abandon the oil case in the Mombasa High Court. The lawyer alleged that government took all the money and frozen it. He added that the money cannot be accessed by anyone.
Ombeta made a startling claim, alleging government involvement in the fuel scandal, stating, “The government has stolen this fuel.” Describing inhumane conditions during captivity, Ombeta highlighted Njeri’s confinement to a single room, attached to chains. Despite threats, she was eventually abandoned near Nyayo in Embakasi. This saga raises serious questions about the nexus between business, government, and justice, shedding light on the challenges faced by those entangled in high-stakes legal battles.
