Media personality Sheila Kwamboka, popularly known as Kwambox, has questioned the wave of criticism directed at content creator Andrew Kibe following his recent remarks about rapper Stevo Simple Boy. Speaking on Friday, July 3, Kwambox argued that similar public outrage was largely absent when Kibe previously made insulting comments about her and other women.
The debate began after Kibe sparked controversy during an interview in which he suggested that people like Stevo Simple Boy should not have children. His remarks quickly drew criticism on social media, with many users describing them as insensitive.
Responding to the backlash, Kwambox said she was surprised by the level of concern being expressed now. According to her, Kibe had insulted her in the past without any provocation, yet very few people publicly challenged him.
“Why does it matter when Stevo Simple Boy has been insulted? When he insulted me, unprovoked, nobody said anything. It was content,” she said.
Kwambox said the issue goes beyond her personal experience. She argued that Kibe has repeatedly made derogatory remarks about women, including single women and single mothers, without attracting the same level of public criticism.
According to her, many women have previously been ridiculed or stereotyped in Kibe’s content, but those incidents rarely generated widespread condemnation. She believes the reaction only changed after his comments were directed at another man.
“But the moment he touches another man, all hell broke loose,” she said.
Kwambox said the contrast raises important questions about how people respond to offensive remarks online. In her view, public condemnation should be consistent regardless of who is being targeted.
She also dismissed what she described as selective outrage, saying she found it difficult to believe the concern being expressed now because similar support was missing when women were the subject of Kibe’s comments.
“So forgive me for not believing in the pretentious things you guys are doing right now because you are touched that he mentioned Stevo Simple Boy,” she said.
Before concluding her remarks, Kwambox challenged audiences to reflect on their own role in Kibe’s continued influence. She questioned why many people continue following and consuming his content while objecting to the controversial statements he regularly makes.
“The question here is why are you still listening to Andrew Kibe?” she asked.
The exchange has reignited debate on social media about accountability for influential online personalities and whether public criticism is applied consistently across different groups.
