Luo podcaster Mr Kede Ojiwo has raised questions about fashion designer Bolo Bespoke after he held a flashy wedding despite not having built a home for himself or his mother.
In a video that has gone viral, Mr Kede said he could not understand why Bolo spent a lot of money on an expensive ceremony in Machakos yet his mother still lives in a modest house in the village. He suggested that the wedding looked too extravagant while other priorities like housing were not taken care of.
Mr Kede went on to hint that Bolo’s wife Mueni might be the one financing most of the projects. He also claimed that maybe she did not want Bolo’s mother to play a big role in the wedding.
Earlier on, Bolo had explained that his plan was to first build a good home for his mother before focusing on his own house. He shared clips showing his mother’s current residence, saying that an upgrade was on the way.
The remarks from Mr Kede sparked mixed reactions online. Some social media users supported him, saying a man should make sure his family is well settled before showing off. Others defended Bolo, arguing that his money and his wife’s money are theirs to use as they please.
A user called Angie dismissed the podcaster saying he has no life except talking about Bolo. Another person, Ben Mugah, added that Bolo always acknowledges Mueni for supporting him, and people should not dictate how they spend their money.
Others like Chris Ogada defended Bolo, noting that his mother’s house is already tiled and decent, and what he is doing now is just upgrading.
The debate continues online as many Kenyans weigh in on whether weddings should come before building a family home.
