Detectives investigating the murders of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu and clinical psychologist Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso have intensified their search for a police inspector believed to be a key figure in the two cases.
According to reports, investigators are pursuing a possible connection between the killings, with evidence pointing to an alleged network involving serving police officers and other suspects.
The investigation reportedly took a significant turn after ballistic experts linked a Ceska pistol recovered from a police constable to the shooting of Mbobu along Magadi Road. Detectives are now examining whether the same network could have played a role in the subsequent killing of Dr Mutiso in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.
Investigators are also exploring a possible connection between the two victims and a long-running land dispute. Mbobu had reportedly represented parties involved in contentious property matters, while Dr Mutiso was allegedly linked to court proceedings connected to the same dispute.
The wanted inspector is suspected of helping coordinate logistics and facilitating the activities of other suspects. However, investigators have yet to establish the full extent of his alleged involvement.
Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the officer while questioning suspects already in custody as detectives seek to establish who may have financed or organized the killings.
