A woman from Kisumu has shared the emotional story of reuniting with the daughter she had not seen for nine years after secretly giving birth while in a relationship with a foreign man.

The woman, identified as JDeejay Akothee, revealed that she kept the pregnancy and birth a secret from her parents, siblings and close friends.

She believed she would never see her daughter again and expected to carry the painful experience with her for the rest of her life.

She said the events began about nine years ago when she travelled to Mombasa and settled in Likoni. While there, she met a foreign man who promised her a better future. Their relationship later took them to Diani, where she became pregnant.

According to her, she went through the pregnancy and gave birth without informing any member of her family. Looking back, she admitted that she was young and inexperienced when she made those decisions.

“I was fresh, young and naive,” she recalled.

Akothee said she raised her daughter for six months before the child’s father allegedly tricked her and left with the baby. The separation left her heartbroken, but she eventually tried to rebuild her life. Throughout those years, none of her relatives knew she had become a mother.

Years later, she received an unexpected phone call that changed everything. She explained that the child’s father had fallen seriously ill and shared her contact details with his family.

His relatives later helped her process travel documents and paid for her visa and flight to Mexico, where she finally reunited with her daughter after nearly a decade apart.

Describing the reunion as a miracle, she said it renewed her faith after years of silent prayers.

“My slogan of ‘God mbele siku zote’ has just come true. I am very happy,” she wrote.

Her story touched many social media users, who congratulated her on the reunion and wished her and her daughter a happy future together after years of separation.
