Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa skipped a very crucial event organised by President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

In a post on X, the vocal lawmaker said that he is away, specifically in the US attending a prayer breakfast, at a time when thousands, if not hundreds, are singing and dancing at State House during a UDA aspirants forum meeting.

“Arrival in the United States at the Kenyan Embassy reception ahead of the National Prayer Breakfast,” Ichung’wah wrote on X.

However, the development comes just a day after NTV exclusively reported a possibility of several governors and MPs in the Mt Kenya region planning to exit the UDA Party ahead of next year’s polls.

NTV reported that Governor Cecily Mbarire, Kimani Ichung’wah, and GG Kagombe are among leaders from the Mt Kenya region who did not register on the UDA forum platform as candidates seeking to defend their seats in the coming 2027 General Election.
