Drama unfolded at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital after a mother from Kirigiti, Kiambu County, claimed that her newborn baby was swapped shortly after delivery.

The distraught family is now demanding answers from hospital authorities, insisting that the baby in their care is not the one the mother gave birth to.

According to the mother, she delivered a baby boy on Tuesday and was briefly shown the infant by nurses before they wrapped the child in clothes and handed the baby to her.

She said everything appeared normal until a few hours later when, while changing the baby’s diaper, she was shocked to discover that the baby was actually a girl.

Confused and alarmed, the woman immediately called her husband, who rushed to the hospital and reported the matter to the police.

The husband claims that instead of addressing the issue, some hospital staff accused him of stressing his wife and dismissed his concerns.

He said no medical checks were conducted to verify the mother’s claims or confirm the baby’s identity.

The incident has sparked outrage among family members, who are now demanding a full investigation and DNA testing to establish the truth.

The family says they will not leave the matter unresolved, insisting that accountability is needed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Kiambu Police Commander confirmed that investigations have been launched.

Officers are reviewing hospital records, birth logs, and interviewing staff who were on duty at the maternity ward.

Authorities have assured the family that a comprehensive report will be released once the investigations are complete.

Meanwhile, the hospital management has remained tight-lipped as the community watches closely, awaiting clarity on the alleged baby swap incident that has left many in shock.
