Charlene Ruto has received overwhelming support from Kenyans online after a woman from Equatorial Guinea reignited criticism of her fashion choices following the President’s daughter’s wedding to Tanzanian businessman Isaya Yunge.
The controversy emerged after Charlene shared stunning photographs from her pre-wedding photoshoot, in which she showcased two elegant outfits, including a black gown and a beautiful white wedding dress.
While many Kenyans admired her appearance, Princess Nguema, an Instagram user from Equatorial Guinea, was unimpressed by the outfits and openly questioned the stylist behind Charlene’s look.
In her reaction, Nguema suggested that the person responsible for styling Charlene should refund the money, making remarks that attracted attention from social media users.
However, her comments did not go down well with Charlene’s Kenyan supporters, who quickly flooded her comment section with messages defending the President’s daughter.
Several Kenyans questioned why the woman continued targeting Charlene, urging her to respect the bride and allow her to enjoy her special moments without unnecessary criticism.
One social media user, Dorcas Nekesa, directly told the critic to move on and leave Charlene alone.
Another commenter, Alma Mariam, expressed frustration by questioning whether Nguema was tired of repeatedly criticising the First Daughter.
Other Kenyans responded humorously, suggesting that another online confrontation was beginning.
Lily Awuor also defended Charlene, insisting that Kenyans appreciated her dressing style and advising the critic to focus on other matters.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Princess Nguema has attracted criticism from Kenyans over her remarks about Charlene’s relationship with Isaya Yunge.
The latest exchange comes as Charlene’s wedding celebrations continue attracting considerable attention across social media platforms.
Charlene and Isaya exchanged vows in a glamorous ceremony in Mwanza, Tanzania, attended by President William Ruto, First Lady Rachel Ruto, political leaders, relatives and friends.
Despite the criticism, the online reactions demonstrated the strong support Charlene enjoys among many Kenyan social media users as she celebrates her marriage.
