A Kenyan woman has shared a deeply emotional account of how her pursuit of better opportunities abroad ended in heartbreak after her marriage collapsed in her absence.
Beverline Mbithi left Kenya for Saudi Arabia in search of greener pastures after she lost her job at home. Like many migrant workers, she hoped the sacrifice would secure a better future for her family and children. Before leaving, she and her husband reportedly agreed on the decision, believing it would strengthen their household financially.
However, things began to fall apart only months after her departure.
While working in Saudi Arabia, Beverline says she experienced difficult working conditions and eventually made the decision to return to Kenya earlier than planned. Upon her return, she did not find the stability she had left behind.
Instead, she claims she was confronted with a painful reality: her husband had become romantically involved with their househelp, and the relationship had reportedly progressed to marriage. The revelation, which she says came through family members and later direct confrontation, left her emotionally devastated.
Beverline further shared that communication with her husband became tense and at times hostile. She also alleged that she returned to a home that had deteriorated significantly during her absence, adding to her distress and sense of loss.
Despite the breakdown of the relationship, she admits she still holds feelings for her husband and hopes for reconciliation, referencing the vows they once made during their wedding.
Now rebuilding her life, Beverline has shifted focus to personal independence. She recently completed training in beauty therapy and is seeking financial support to start a small beauty business estimated at about KSh 300,000. Her goal is to regain stability and provide for her children.
Her story has sparked mixed reactions online, with many sympathizing with her struggles while others urge her to move forward and focus on rebuilding her life rather than the past.
As she starts over, Beverline says her priority is now survival, healing, and creating a sustainable future for her family.
