A Kenyan man has attracted attention online after a WhatsApp conversation allegedly showing him resigning from his job triggered a tense exchange with his employer.

In the messages circulating on social media, the man, identified as Robin, informs his boss, Madam Stella, that he will no longer report to work because he has decided to leave the company permanently.

Robin explains that he has reached a point where he can no longer cope with the demands of his job, particularly the frequent overtime hours.

In his resignation message, he suggests that his mental well-being has become more important than continuing to work under conditions he finds exhausting.

He also thanks his boss for the time he spent working at the company.

However, his decision does not appear to sit well with his employer. Madam Stella questions his professionalism, arguing that resignation letters should be submitted two to three weeks in advance rather than through WhatsApp.

She also expresses dissatisfaction with the manner in which he communicated his departure.

Robin responds in Swahili, asking what else he could do when he is no longer willing to continue working under the same conditions. He points out that the overtime demands have become too much for him.

The exchange becomes more heated when the boss accuses him of violating the terms of his employment contract.

According to the messages, the employer says the company will deduct 50 per cent of his salary for the 14 days he has worked during the month, leaving him with the remaining balance.

The conversation has drawn attention to the challenges employees can face when work demands interfere with their personal lives and well-being.

While some may question the manner in which Robin communicated his resignation, others may relate to his frustration over excessive overtime.

The incident also raises questions about proper resignation procedures, employment contracts and the importance of clear communication between employers and workers.
