A Kenyan man living in the United Kingdom has appealed for assistance after his employment contract ended, leaving him without a stable source of income or accommodation.
John Kariuki had been working in the UK under a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), an arrangement linked to his employer. According to a report by TUKO.co.ke published on September 30, 2026, his contract came to an end, resulting in the loss of both his job and housing.
Kariuki is reportedly preparing to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), making his current circumstances particularly challenging as he looks for a way to remain stable while pursuing his next employment opportunity.
Temporary Accommodation
Following an appeal for assistance, an online team reportedly helped Kariuki secure temporary accommodation for one night.
He is currently staying at a hostel that costs approximately KSh 2,200 per night. Without employment, however, meeting the daily accommodation costs remains a major challenge.
Kariuki has therefore appealed for a new job and more permanent accommodation as he tries to rebuild his life in the UK.
Kenyans Urged to Offer Support
The appeal, shared by The Kenyan Diaspora Media, called on Kenyans living in the UK, churches, community leaders and other well-wishers to assist Kariuki.
Support could reportedly come in the form of employment opportunities, accommodation, financial assistance or other practical help.
His situation has also highlighted some of the difficulties migrant workers can face when employment arrangements tied to their immigration status come to an end.
As efforts continue to find him work and stable accommodation, Kariuki remains hopeful that members of the Kenyan community and other well-wishers will respond to his appeal.
