Irish national Joel Fitzpatrick has shared an emotional account of how he allegedly lost KSh 83 million to a Kenyan woman he had been in a relationship with, claiming he later discovered that their romance was part of a carefully planned financial scheme.
Speaking during an interview with TUKO Talks, Fitzpatrick said he was devastated after the woman allegedly admitted that she had planned from the beginning to obtain his money and property. He described the revelation as deeply shocking, comparing the experience to a bomb or hand grenade exploding in his face.
According to Fitzpatrick, their relationship began online about two years before he eventually relocated to Kenya. Looking back at their time together, he now believes preparations for the alleged scheme may have started long before he arrived in the country.
He further alleged that the woman received legal guidance on the documents and procedures required to strengthen her position. Fitzpatrick claimed she was advised on a specific sequence of events and paperwork that would allegedly enable her to acquire his assets.
The Irishman maintained that he entered the relationship believing they were building a future together. However, he claimed his partner had different intentions and eventually left their shared home after obtaining what she had allegedly planned to secure.
Fitzpatrick said the experience affected him emotionally and pushed him towards alcohol as he struggled to come to terms with the alleged betrayal.
The dispute also involves a five-bedroom luxury mansion in Malindi, which Fitzpatrick says he financed during their marriage. The property is reportedly at the centre of an approximately KSh 80 million divorce dispute between him and his estranged Kenyan wife.
However, Fitzpatrick’s accusations remain allegations, and the court has yet to make a final determination regarding ownership of the disputed property or the competing claims surrounding the couple’s assets.
