Kenyan player Sven Yidah is scheduled to depart South African club Marumo Gallants at the end of the month, after a tumultuous season for the midfielder.

Yidah joined the South African club at the start of the season, signing a one-year contract with the option of a second year.

His stint at the club became uncomfortable after a few games; he became a peripheral character and was finally frozen out of matchday teams.

Gallants had a difficult season, as they were demoted from the Premier Soccer League despite an excellent run in the CAF Confederation Cup, as they reached the semis before losing to Tanzania’s Yanga, who went on to lose to USM Alger in the final.

According to farpost.co.za, Yidah will depart the club in the coming weeks, with the FKF Premier League appearing like the likely destination for the combative midfielder, who was a Kenya U23 regular.

More players will be released as the club prepares for life in the second tier. Celimpilo Ngema has joined AmaZulu FC, while Lucky Mohomi has joined Richards Bay FC.

Katlego Otladisa and Ranga Chivaviro are reportedly on the verge of joining Soweto heavyweights Orlando Pirates. Lebogang Mabotja, a left-back, has joined Royal AM, while Washington Arubi has joined Sekhukhune United.

Aside from Yidah, other released players include Abram Ngcobo, Ayanda Nkili, Maboke Matlakala, and Mahlatse Makudubela. Pule Maraisane, Sibusiso Sibeko, Sibusiso Kumalo, Sizwe Mdlinzo, and Tshepo Gumede.

Dylan Kerr, the club’s consultant coach, has also been let go. Kerr is a former Gor Mahia coach who won the Kenyan league twice before moving to South Africa.
