A Kenyan freight aircraft has tragically gone down southwest of Mogadishu, Somalia, claiming the lives of all five people aboard.
The plane, identified as a DHC-5D Buffalo, was en route from Dhobley to Aden Abdulle International Airport when it crashed on Saturday evening. Somali aviation authorities confirmed that four of the victims were Kenyan citizens. Initial investigations suggest the aircraft may have faced technical problems before departure, prompting experts to examine if mechanical failure played a role in the accident.
Despite a rapid response from emergency teams, everyone on board was declared dead at the crash site. Officials from Kenya and Somalia are jointly investigating the circumstances of the tragedy. The incident adds to growing concerns over flight safety in the region.
Earlier in the year, a cargo plane carrying UN humanitarian aid crash-landed in El Barde, resulting in the death of the pilot. Somali authorities have promised to keep the families of the Kenyan victims informed as the probe continues. The heartbreaking crash has left loved ones in mourning and renewed discussions on the safety of air transport in the area.
