Kenyan actress and content creator Diana Daisy is facing a nightmare abroad after her passport and belongings were confiscated by immigration officials in Laos.
In a heartbreaking video, Daisy revealed that authorities took her camera and personal items, demanding a hefty fine of KSh 259,000 ($2,000) before releasing them.
“I’m here seated, my passport was taken. My camera and everything about me was taken. They are telling me to cash out $2,000. I have the money, but they are still frustrating me. Why would they treat someone like this in Laos? Just because I am Black,” she said tearfully.
Her fans flooded the comment section with mixed reactions. Some sympathized with her, while others shared similar experiences of racial discrimination while traveling.
One user noted that African passport holders often face harsh treatment in some countries, while another warned against visiting destinations known for targeting foreigners with fines.
Daisy’s experience has sparked a conversation about the struggles African travelers face abroad. Many are now calling for Kenyan authorities to intervene and assist her.
For now, Daisy remains stranded, waiting for a resolution as her followers hope she gets justice soon.
