In Nairobi County, on Saturday, as reported by one of the media houses, residents who are living in slums near Runda attacked officials attached to the Kenya Power Company after they were allegedly removing transformers in the area.

After being attacked, the officials swiftly began to defend themselves, claiming that they were not removing transformers to sabotage the power in the area but to take them for maintenance.

In a statement they made, Kenya Power officials revealed that the transformers had become old after staying in the area for a period of time and they were in the process of replacing them with new ones.

However, despite defending themselves, residents began to protest where, at the moment of chaos, they were already surrounded, revealing that the officials are deceiving them by citing that the transformers that are being removed are taken to be enhanced.

“We are not fools as you people think; we know very well these transformers that you are removing here, you are taking them to other places, and here we will remain in the blackout. For your information, we will not allow this to happen, and our question is, why can’t you bring the new transformers here to replace them with the old ones at once?” One of the residents said.

As the situation was, the officials were forced to find the route to run for their lives. As residents began throwing stones at them, they swiftly got into one of their vehicles and drove off from the place.

Their other vehicles, which were set to carry the transformers, were stoned by the residents.
