Kenyans in several parts of the country have been advised to prepare for changing weather conditions over the next five days, following a new forecast from the Kenya Meteorological Department covering September 18 to 22, 2026.
According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rainfall is expected in different parts of the country, with residents in several counties likely to experience showers at various times of the day. The forecast comes as weather updates continue to attract attention on social media, with recent Facebook posts highlighting the expected changes across the country.
Counties expected to experience rainfall include Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Embu, Meru, Nakuru, Bomet, Kericho, Kakamega, Kisumu, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia.
Coastal areas are also expected to receive showers. Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are among the counties mentioned in the forecast, with some areas likely to experience morning showers and moderate rainfall later in the day.
Meanwhile, cold and cloudy conditions are expected intermittently in parts of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang’a, Nyeri and Nyandarua. Nyandarua is expected to record some of the lowest temperatures, with minimum temperatures falling to about 5°C during the forecast period.
Residents in northern counties should also expect a different weather pattern. While Wajir and Garissa may experience cloudy periods, parts of Turkana and Mandera are expected to remain relatively hot, with daytime temperatures reaching the upper 30s.
Kenyans are therefore encouraged to keep monitoring updates from the Kenya Meteorological Department as weather conditions may vary from one location to another.
