Police in Nairobi are investigating the sudden death of a Kenya Defence Forces officer whose body was found in a guest room at Aston Villa Bar in the Pipeline area.
The officer, identified as Edward Gwako Nyabuti, was discovered lifeless on February 28 after the bar manager reported the incident to Kware Police Station under Occurrence Book number 03 28 02 2026.
Police responding to the scene found Nyabuti unresponsive in the room.
Authorities launched an immediate investigation to determine what happened in his final hours.
A woman who had been with him since February 20 was arrested at the scene.
She identified herself as Jane Wanjiku, a men’s entertainer, and was later taken to Embakasi Police Station.
She was booked into custody on March 6 under Occurrence Book number 43 06 03 2026.
In a court affidavit, Corporal Misati, the lead investigator, said the suspect appeared healthy when arrested.
He added that another individual connected to the case remains at large, and detectives are pursuing her.
The officer requested 21 more days to carry out forensic tests, record witness statements, and reconstruct Nyabuti’s final moments.
He also noted that releasing the suspect now could place her in danger from the officer’s family and the public.
The body of the officer is being held at Mashujaa Funeral Home pending a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The court granted the 21-day custody extension, and the case will be mentioned again on March 30.
