Kawangware is mourning following the murder of a bodaboda chairman who was reportedly attacked in early morning hours while heading to work.
The incident, which has shocked residents, left the community demanding justice for the slain man.
According to reports, the victim commonly known as “Congo” was accosted early this morning by a notorious gang in the area identified as the Ratty Gang.
Eyewitnesses say the attack happened at around 4:00 a.m., the time when many boda boda riders and operators begin their day’s work.
As Congo was entering into his job, the gang is said to have confronted him. He was allegedly stabbed multiple times around the neck before being killed.
After the assault, the attackers reportedly ransacked him and used a machete or sharp object to chop off his left hand, leaving him to bleed and die at the scene.
Residents who learned of the incident described the moments following the attack as terrifying, with some expressing disbelief that such brutality could occur so close to the time riders were expected to be operational.
Many gathered near the area in stunned silence, while others rushed to alert authorities.
Police have since moved in and begun collecting evidence to establish how the incident unfolded and identify the individuals behind the attack.
The body of Congo was taken to the morgue as investigations get underway.
