Pastor Victor Kanyari received online condemnation from a portion of Kenyans after sharing WhatsApp screenshots of his discussions with his late ex-wife, Betty Bayo.
Many lambasted him not only for revealing the discussions but also for ignoring the late performer, since her texts went unanswered. Kanyari stated why he blue-ticked Bayo, provoking huge outrage once more on social media.
This comes after he shared a series of WhatsApp screenshots from his discussions with the late Bayo. The majority of the conversations, which were leaked during their ongoing custody fights, revolved around the children’s school expenses and other requirements.
A group of online users chastised the pastor for exposing the talks days before the musician’s burial and even after she was laid to rest.
Despite publishing screenshots of the children’s school tuition, Kanyari went on to justify himself at a church service.
He admitted that he had not reacted to the text messages, but said that he took action by giving money to his children’s mother using M-Pesa.
According to the pastor, Bayo died knowing he had a decent heart and that the nasty information being shared online was useless. “Betty Bayo died knowing that I had a decent heart.
She never asked me for money and I said I didn’t have any. I always promised her I’d mail it. I never responded to her text messages since I use M-Pesa.
I saw some folks making a big deal out of it. If she stated the kids needed money, all I had to do was send it,” he explained.
Some netizens supported Kanyari’s approach, but others said that a basic acknowledgement, such as a text answer, was still necessary.
