IN what many may consider a rarity, WIPER leader Kalonzo Musyoka has opened the doors of people to gain an understanding of his faith and religious positions, away from politics.
In an exclusive interview on TV47, Musyoka revealed that he does not like to advertise and talk much about his faith and religious positions but the truth is that he has a very strong foundation in Jesus Christ.
Kalonzo said that while he was a student in college, he was once the leader of a religious union and often loves to sing.
“My calling is to serve people in leadership and this started a long time ago in high school when I was leading the Christian Students Union (CU) and even in college when I was leading worship songs at St Andrew’s Church.”
“And I don’t really like to talk about my faith, but that’s what drives me and that’s what has shaped me. People can take anything but my faith in Jesus Christ,” Musyoka explained.
Regarding his favorite songs, Kalonzo revealed that he loves listening to Rwandan evangelist Israel Mbonyi.
He revealed that when the artiste visited Kenya last year, he invited him to his home where he sang and played guitar for his wife, Pauline, who has been sick.
“I was listening to Israel Mbonyi’s songs, the guy actually came and played guitar for my wife. Because people know that Pauline has been sick [for some time now] and so Israel Mbonyi came,” Kalonzo explained.
He revealed that his family is blessed with musical talent, hinting that even his wife is a gospel artist.
“My wife is a gospel artist and I think it runs in the family. My brother is a very good singer and so I really love singing, even country music,” he said while playing a sample of Israel Mbonyi’s song “I Have a Secret.”
Kalonzo also revealed to Kenyans, albeit in a small way, about how he maintains his lifestyle to the point where he looks younger than his 71 years.
According to him, he has never used alcohol or cigarettes in his life even though he has been surrounded by friends who use such drugs.
