Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali has alleged that the upcoming Magarini by-elections are under threat of interference.
Ali claimed to have “credible information” suggesting that forces are mobilizing to manipulate the electoral process.
Ali named Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, alleging that the governor had brought in more than four presiding officers and 30 election inspectors with the aim of disrupting the elections.
“We are fully aware of these moves,” Ali stated, adding that his team is monitoring the situation closely.
“We will remain firm in making sure that the elections are NOT tampered with.”
The MP urged residents of Magarini Constituency to stay vigilant and to prevent any unauthorized individuals from interfering in their towns.
He emphasized that the will of the people cannot be defied, calling on voters to exercise their democratic rights responsibly and to reject any attempts at manipulation.
Ali also threw his support behind United Opposition MP candidate Stanley Kenga, urging the electorate to back him in the by-election.
In pointed warning, he reminded voters not to fall prey to any incentives offered by those he described as “saboteurs of democracy.”
Political analysts say that the Magarini by-election has attracted heightened attention due to its strategic importance on the Coast and the growing rivalry between national parties.
The allegations by Mohamed Ali, if substantiated, could further intensify scrutiny over the electoral process and trigger intervention by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
As the countdown to the Magarini by-election continues, all eyes will be on Kilifi County.
Residents have been urged to stay informed, vote responsibly, and resist any attempts to undermine the integrity of the election.
For many, the message is clear: democracy must be defended at all costs, and the people of Magarini are being called upon to play a central role in safeguarding their vote.
