Tanzanian singer Juma Jux has called for peace and healing after violent clashes erupted following the country’s recent elections.
On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, he shared a message on his Instagram stories:
“Mungu ibariki Tanzania, praying for peace and healing. Mungu awatie nguvu na faraja waathirika wote.”
He asked God to bless the nation and comfort those affected by the post-election chaos.
Fellow musician Diamond Platnumz also spoke out, urging calm and unity:
“Inshaallah Mwenyezi Mungu atujaalie amani zaidi ya tuliyokuwa nayo mwanzo, atujaalie upendo zaidi, umoja, mshikamano, maendeleo na azilaze roho za waliotangulia mahala pema peponi. Amina.”
Their messages come after criticism over silence from public figures while tensions escalated.
The violence began on October 29, 2025, after elections marked by alleged voter suppression and the exclusion of opposition leaders.
Protests started in Dar es Salaam and spread to other cities, with demonstrators demanding transparency and accountability.
Authorities responded by deploying police and military, enforcing curfews, and restricting internet access.
Human rights groups report hundreds may have died, while hospitals treated many injured civilians and others were detained.
The government insists security officers acted to restore order.
