Simple A

A Nairobi content creator learned a hard lesson in timing when he tried to secure an interview with veteran journalist Jeff Koinange, and the entire encounter was filmed for TikTok viewers to watch.

The host of the Young Millionaire Talks page approached Koinange at what looked like an event venue in Nairobi. Koinange, who seemed busy speaking with other people, appeared to wave the creator aside and suggested he come back later instead of engaging on the spot.

The creator took it in stride. In his caption, he wrote that a no is just a yes in training and that a redirection is not a rejection. He described the moment as proof that he was in the room where it happens and promised that the next chapters would be legendary.

Viewers, however, were far less polite. The video gathered thousands of reactions quickly, and many commenters pointed to what they saw as avoidable mistakes.

One person said they preferred interviews where the host dresses in proper official attire. Another suggested the creator had approached the wrong person, arguing that Koinange grew up with generational wealth and could hardly inspire someone looking for a story of rising from nothing.

Others were more supportive, saying the encounter had simply opened doors toward future blessings. One commenter offered simple advice: speak to a person before you start recording them.

For now, the creator is treating the episode as motivation. He told his followers that he respects the journey, respects the icons, and will keep moving forward regardless of the outcome.

This is not the first time Koinange has been in the spotlight for an unscripted moment. Earlier, a microphone mishap during his interview with Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro let viewers hear an editor’s question over the broadcast.
