Renowned media personality Janet Mbugua is celebrating a major career milestone, after being nominated for a prestigious continental award.
The award-winning journalist shared the exciting news on her social media platforms on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, announcing that she has been nominated for the Africa Business Awards 2026.
Janet is competing in the Creative, Media & Entertainment Industry Excellence Awards category, where she will go head-to-head with other accomplished professionals from across the continent.
Reflecting on the nomination, Mbugua revealed that the recognition prompted her to pause and look back on her journey, especially the quiet moments of hard work, self-doubt, and criticism that often go unseen.
“Some moments make you pause; this was one of them,” she wrote. “This nomination reminded me that when you’re busy looking down, just doing the work, second-guessing yourself, being your own toughest critic.
Trying to stay true to your voice while also listening to the moment, to the room, to the country, it still counts. Even when you’re not sure, it does.”
She expressed gratitude for the honour and encouraged her supporters to vote for her as she vies for the coveted award.
“I’m honoured to be nominated for the @africanbusinesschamber_afbc Awards 2026,” she shared, urging fans to show their support now that voting is open. Janet also took time to thank her followers for standing by her throughout her journey.
Beyond the nomination, Mbugua is widely respected for her influence and impact in media and advocacy. Over the years, she has built a reputation for engaging audiences with honesty, warmth, and purpose, often speaking candidly about relationships, personal growth, and national conversations.
She also uses her platform to champion social causes, including gender equality, menstrual health, and the empowerment of girls.
Through her Inua Dada Foundation, Janet has transformed countless lives through Menstrual Hygiene Management advocacy, cementing her role as a leading voice for change both in Kenya and across Africa.
