Private investigator Jane Mugo has publicly accused Kenyan forex personality Mohamed Amiin Abdurrahman, popularly known online as Amiin FX, of allegedly defrauding a Kenyan living in Canada of KSh 835,888.
According to Mugo, the client paid the money to Amiin FX for forex trading services. She claims that after receiving the money, the trader allegedly failed to provide the promised service and instead sent the client a tracking number that Mugo says was fake.
Mugo further alleges that Amiin FX has been using his growing popularity online to build trust among potential clients. She claims that his appearances on popular digital platforms, including Oga Obinna’s online show, helped him present himself as a credible and successful forex trader.
The private investigator also made a more serious allegation, claiming that Amiin FX later started making romantic advances toward the same client. Mugo suggested that the alleged approach came after the client had already paid the money and was seeking answers about the trading service.
Mugo says she decided to intervene after receiving the complaint from the Canada-based client. She claims that she contacted Amiin FX directly in an attempt to find an amicable solution and recover the money.
However, according to Mugo, her efforts did not succeed. She alleges that Amiin FX blocked her after she contacted him about the matter.
The investigator has also claimed that Amiin FX specifically targets Kenyans living abroad because they may be far from Kenya and could face difficulties following up on disputes locally. These claims, however, remain allegations and have not been established as facts in court.
Mugo has called on members of the public to help authorities locate Amiin FX so that he can face the allegations. She says her legal team is preparing to pursue the matter through both civil and criminal complaints.
The accusations have sparked discussion online, with some Kenyans calling for investigations into the claims before any conclusions are made.
