Well-known Jamaican producer Tarik “Rvssian” Johnston reports his brother’s unexpected death.
He talked about how hard it was to deal with his brother’s untimely passing, and how he needed to take a break from social media.
Rvssian pledges to finish his ongoing project, Story Book Riddim, in spite of his grief in order to honor the participating artists.
On Monday, July 28, the artist, who has made significant contributions to dancehall, trap, and Latin music, broke the devastating news to his fans on Instagram.
Rvssian disclosed in his heartfelt post that his brother had died the day before. Rvssian admitted that the tragedy was heavy on him and that he needed time to recover.
“I learned about my brother’s unexpected death yesterday. I’m still working on accepting it, and it’s been difficult to digest.
I’m taking some time to deal with everything, so I might not be active on social media for a bit,” he stated. Out of respect for the artists who had previously contributed to the project.
Rvssian stated that he intended to continue working on Story Book Riddim despite the enormous sadness.
“Even though things are heavy right now, I will do my best to complete it — out of respect for the artistes who gave their time and energy to be part of it,” he stated.
His tweet was inundated with condolences from fans and other musicians. Rvssian concluded by expressing his appreciation for the overwhelming love and support he has received.
