Marya

Musician and former Starehe MP Charles Njagua, popularly known as Jaguar, has extended financial support to ailing singer Marya, offering her KSh 100,000 and promising to cover her rent for three months.

Jaguar visited Marya at her home on Thursday, October 15, bringing financial assistance as she continues recovering from an ischaemic stroke that has affected her health and ability to work.

During the visit, the musician handed her the cash to help cater for medical expenses and daily needs. He also pledged to pay her rent for the next three months and provide monthly shopping to ease the financial burden on her household.

The gesture comes as Marya continues undergoing physiotherapy following the stroke, which left her with partial paralysis on the left side of her body.

According to reports, Jaguar was moved to offer further assistance after watching Marya perform alongside her former music partner, Colonel Mustafa, during a celebration marking 25 years of his music career.

Although her appearance on stage showed signs of progress in her recovery, Jaguar reportedly felt she still needed substantial support and continued medical care.

He noted that he had previously helped Marya when she first fell ill. However, seeing her perform reminded him that her journey towards recovery was far from over and that she would need consistent assistance.

Marya’s illness has affected both her career and finances, with medical expenses mounting as cancelled performances limit her ability to earn an income.

The singer rose to prominence through popular songs, including Chokoza, a collaboration with Avril, and Hey Baby, which she recorded with Colonel Mustafa.

Her health challenges have attracted concern from fans and fellow musicians, with Jaguar’s latest gesture offering relief as she focuses on her treatment.

The promised rent payments and household shopping are expected to help meet some of her immediate needs while she continues working towards regaining her health.
