Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has strongly dismissed claims that his recent attack in Kisumu was linked to a love triangle, calling the allegations false and misleading.

Speaking after being discharged from hospital, Osotsi made it clear that his personal life had nothing to do with the incident. He said he is happily married and urged the public to ignore rumours spreading online.

“This was not a love thing. I have a beautiful wife, and we are happily married,” he stated.

The senator also raised concern over what he described as a growing trend in Kenya, where attacks on politicians are quickly sensationalised and linked to romantic relationships. According to him, such narratives distract the public from the real causes of violence against leaders.

Osotsi further accused some bloggers of spreading propaganda immediately after the attack, even before proper investigations or verified reports were available. He claimed that within minutes of the incident, misleading versions of events were already circulating online.

Addressing CCTV footage that showed him with a woman at the time of the attack, Osotsi clarified that the lady was not romantically involved with him. He identified her as Jennifer, a staff member well known to his team, dismissing any suggestion of a love triangle.

He also alleged that certain individuals, including a blogger who is also a Member of County Assembly (MCA), were being paid to push the false narrative.

The senator has now called for responsible reporting and urged both the public and investigators to focus on facts rather than speculation. His remarks come amid rising concerns over political violence and misinformation in the country.
