The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has apologised for the events that took place in Nakuru county where the secondary schools national drama festivals were taking place.
In the drama that unfolded, police officers ended up teargassing journalists and school children who were participating in the event.
Following that, the CS in charge has asked for forgiveness for whatever took place stating that it has never been the intention of the government to harass journalists or any citizen.
“It is regrettable and I apologize. It’s not the intention of Government to attack or hurt any journalist or citizen,” Murkomen assured.
Murkomen also stated that the government obeys the constitutional right for expression thus the Butere Girls drama club students had all the rights to perform their Echoes of War play.
After the whole saga, the students of Butere Girls did not perform citing lack of props and public address system. On their arrival on stage, they sang the national anthem and left the stage.
