Darlin

Renowned reggae DJ Kriss Darlin has sparked controversy with his recent comments regarding the mourning of media personality Jahmby Koikai.

Following Koikai’s passing, Darlin, whose real name is Christone Odhiambo, took to Instagram to express his discontent with the way fans were paying tribute to the late reggae pioneer.

In his post, Darlin appeared to accuse Koikai’s supporters of hypocrisy, stating that they were quick to share photos and tributes after her death but failed to offer support when she needed it most.

He specifically mentioned the lack of blood donations and assistance when Koikai was battling health issues.

The DJ’s remarks immediately drew criticism from a large portion of Kenyans online, who accused him of insensitivity and misrepresentation of facts.

Many pointed out that people had indeed supported Koikai in various ways, even if it wasn’t always visible on social media.

Notable figures, including comedians Njugush and DJ Shiti, joined the chorus of criticism, with some referencing Darlin’s own interactions with Koikai in the past.

They called out his attempt to garner attention through Koikai’s demise and emphasized the importance of respecting the deceased.

Reggae personalities DJ Moh Spice and DJ Xclusive also weighed in, condemning Darlin’s post as irresponsible and ignorant.

While Darlin’s intention may have been to highlight what he perceived as a discrepancy in public support, his approach was met with widespread disdain.

Fans of Koikai expressed disappointment at his remarks, emphasizing the need to mourn respectfully without causing distress to others.

Jahmby Koikai, affectionately known as Fyah Mummah, left behind a legacy as a beloved figure in the reggae community.

Her battle with endometriosis raised awareness about the condition and garnered widespread support from fans and fellow artists alike.
