Beatrice Sakaja is the wife of Governor Johnson Arthur Sakaja and first lady of Nairobi County, and together with Governor Sakaja, they have two sons.

She frequently appears with her family at official functions, including Sakaja’s swearing-in ceremony, where she stood by his side with their children.

Beyond her public appearances, Beatrice has been actively involved in advocacy work, particularly speaking out against harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM). She has openly shared her personal experience of narrowly escaping FGM during her youth.

Despite her role, Beatrice maintains a low-key public profile and prefers to stay out of the limelight, only participating in selected public and community initiatives.

As Nairobi’s First Lady, she supports charity and community programmes, with a strong focus on children and women from underprivileged backgrounds.

In interviews, Beatrice has candidly spoken about the challenges of being married to a busy politician, acknowledging that the demands of her husband’s schedule often place significant strain on family time.

She has also endorsed child-care and early childhood development initiatives in Nairobi, emphasising the importance of quality care and education for young children.

Beatrice is recognised among Kenya’s county First Ladies for her involvement in community development and women’s empowerment activities, although her public appearances remain selective.
