Governor Gladys Wanga on Wednesday afternoon visited Captain William Ruto at his residence in Kabarak, Nakuru County, to convey her heartfelt condolences following the tragic passing of his daughter, Mitchell Jelimo Kemboi.The governor also took the opportunity to wish Captain Ruto a full recovery after his recent accident, expressing solidarity during this difficult period for his family.

During the visit, Governor Wanga emphasized the importance of community support during times of personal loss.

She described Captain Ruto as a long-standing friend of Homa Bay County, noting his commitment to regional development through the Kenya Ports Authority’s involvement in the construction of the Homa Bay Pier.

“Captain Ruto has consistently contributed to projects that benefit our county, and it is only right that we stand with him in this moment of grief,” she said.

The condolence visit included personal expressions of sympathy and encouragement, with Governor Wanga offering prayers for comfort and strength to the grieving family.

Her visit underscores the role of leaders in fostering empathy and maintaining human connections beyond official duties.

Captain Ruto expressed his gratitude for the visit, acknowledging the support and concern extended by the governor.The Late Mitchell Jelimo Kemboi tragically died in a car crash last Friday in Taveta constituency, Taita Taveta county.

They were travelling as a family to the Serengeti National Park for the Easter holiday when their family car hit a stationary trailer that had broken down on the road, but had not put up any signage.

Jelimo died on the spot while the rest of the family was hospitalised.
