Omang

Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga is one of the female politicians in Kenya with a remarkable education path, all the way to a master’s degree.

Millicent Omanga attended Mumbi Girls High School in Rongai, Kajiado County, for her early O-level secondary education.

She completed her KCSE from Mumbi Girls High School at around 1999.

She did go to A level but went straight to a medical training school. She secured sponsorship to join a Medical Training College (MTC).

Despite joining MTC, she did not complete the program due to financial constraints.

The fact that she did not finish her initial professional training disrupted a direct career path early on in her life.

However, she did not stop there with her academics. Millicent later enrolled at the University of Nairobi and pursued a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

She studied journalism and successfully earned a bachelor’s degree, completing it, unlike the medicine course she had done before.

Her abrupt shift from medicine to journalism surprised many, but it proved that she is a flexible woman ready to change professions.

She then went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Commerce, also from the University of Nairobi.

Also, the fact that she chose another field to specialize her master’s in, rather than journalism, still further proved her flexibility.

She is someone that has totally had a non-linear path in education, from medicine to journalism and finally commerce. She has gained knowledge from almost the basic fields of education in her life.

However, despite undertaking all those three, reports indicate that her final qualification in commerce aligns more with her business and political positioning in life than her first degree.
